RIIMPO319E – Conduct backhoe/loader operations
NOTE: Clients must have access to a Backhoe/Loader and a suitable worksite to undertake our course
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to operate a backhoe/loader to load, distribute and place materials for those working in site-based roles.
Course Summary
The candidate must be able to demonstrate knowledge to complete the tasks outlined in the elements and performance criteria of this unit. This includes:
Key policies and procedures, legislation, and established requirements for backhoe/loader operations
The candidate must demonstrate the ability to complete the tasks outlined in the elements and performance criteria of this unit.
The candidate must demonstrate completion of loader/backhoe operations that safely, effectively, and efficiently follows workplace procedures to carry out work activity on at least two occasions.
Elements Covered:
- Plan and prepare for backhoe/loader operations
- Operate backhoe/ loader in line with established requirements
- Load, carry, and place materials to complete work activity
- Select, remove, fit, and attachments for a backhoe/loader
- Relocate the backhoe/ loader
- Conduct housekeeping activities
Training
All training will be conducted by a qualified staff member.
The Training will follow a set format and cover all Elements and performance criteria set out in this unit. Learning resources will be provided to clients on confirmation of booking into this course.
Assessment
A knowledge-based theory/classroom session ending with an examination will need to be completed prior to any practical training or assessment session being offered. Due to the dangerous nature of this unit of competency, candidates will only move to the practical training/assessment once they have successfully completed the theory session.
A practical session will be conducted at a site suitable for the number of people participating in the course.
Additional Information
All courses are conducted on client’s machines on their worksite or in a suitable area.
A Provisional Licence is a minimum requirement to operate this item in a public area as per Transport Tasmania Licencing requirements.
On successful completion of this course, attendees will receive a statement of attainment for unit RIIMPO319E
