Course Summary
- Unit code issued on successful completion: AHCMOM213
- This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to safely operate a hand-held chainsaw and maintain it in working condition. This unit applies to cross-cutting fallen timber using safe cutting techniques. The unit applies to individuals who apply low-risk work procedures and comply with worksite health and safety requirements when operating hand-held chainsaws to carry out routine work.

Elements Covered
- Assist in the preparation of the worksite
- Recognise and apply workplace safety procedures
- Check and prepare the chainsaw for use
- Operate chainsaw
- Complete and check chainsaw operation
Training
All training is conducted by a qualified staff member.
The Training will follow a set format and cover all Elements and performance criteria set out in this unit. Learning resources will be provided to clients on confirmation of booking into this course.
Assessment
A knowledge-based theory/classroom session ending with an examination is required to be completed before any practical training or assessment session is offered.
A practical session will be conducted at a site suitable for the number of people participating in the course.
